Who we are

ILAR is the first regional association in Latin America of Non-Prescription Medicines. It was founded in 2001 with the aim of promoting self-care in the use of medicines without prescription, optimizing resources and social welfare systems and contributing to public health through responsible medication.

ILAR is formed by associations of manufacturers of these products, as well as by leading pharmaceutical companies in the region. In addition, ILAR is the spokesperson of this sector before the World Self-Medication Industry (WSMI), a non-governmental entity that has an official relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO), and it is formed by 54 other associations of the five continents.
